Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Chicken wings, separated, tips removed, look for "party pack"
  • 4 teaspoon butter, melted or coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • ½ teaspoon chile powder, or paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano, or Italian seasonings
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400° F
  • Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and then place a baking rack on top. Coat heavily with cooking spray or brush with oil.
  • If the wings are still whole be sure to cut off the wing tip and discard. Then use a sharp knife to cut at the joint to separate whole chicken wings into 2 parts: the flat piece and the drumette.
  • Combine seasoning mix in a small bowl.
In a large bowl toss wings with melted butter and seasoning mixture, making sure to coat the wings thoroughly.
  • Place wings on the baking rack in a single layer and make sure they are not touching.
  • Bake for about 35-40 minutes, turning halfway through baking. The wings should be dark golden brown in color and the skin should be crispy. Cook to an internal temperature of 175℉.
  • Remove from the oven and serve.
OPTIONAL: Brush with BBQ Sauce and put back in the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes or until BBQ sauce is hot and bubbly.
  • To serve: Remove from baking rack and serve on a large platter.
If desired, serve with ranch dressing or blue cheese on the side.

Notes

To Reheat Wings:
  • Refrigerated Wings: For the best results use a 350˚F preheated oven or toaster oven. This method will give you the crispest skin. Bake on a lined sheet pan in a single layer for about 7-10 minutes
  • Frozen Wings: If possible, thaw overnight in the refrigerator and reheat as above. To cook from frozen use the same method as above but cook for 17-20 minutes.
  • Reheating in an air fryer: Spray the air fryer basket and preheat at 350˚F for 5 minutes. Add the wings in a single layer and cook for about 5 minutes (or 15 minutes if frozen)
  • Microwave: We don’t recommend reheating frozen wings in the microwave. Refrigerated leftovers can be reheated for about 1 minute, however, the skin will not crisp back up using this method so we strongly suggest the oven or an air fryer
